About Katie

Hello, my name is Katie and I live in London. I’m an enthusiastic and dedicated languages teacher looking to help all those requiring Spanish and Portuguese tuition. Languages are truly an obsession for me! Thanks to my trilingual family, I've spoken English, Spanish and Portuguese since childhood. I also studied languages as part of my undergraduate degree, obtaining a first class BA in History with Spanish and Portuguese. After graduation, I spent a decade working as a lawyer in London, during which time I used my language skills numerous times in a translation and interpretation context. However, in 2018 I decided to return to my language roots full-time, retraining and qualifying as a modern foreign languages teacher. Upon qualification, I spent 3 years teaching Spanish to secondary school students in London. I then left to focus on my private tutoring career, and have since been tutoring a diverse range of students in terms of age and language experience. In recent years, I have also acted as a Spanish and Portuguese speaking examiner for GCSE and A Level students across a number of exam boards, working for both individual schools and larger exam centres. My students shape the style of my classes and I always design them taking into account the strengths, objectives and interests of each individual. My classes are fun, interactive and relaxed but I always have in mind the precise objects of my students in relation to their learning needs. My main aim as a tutor is to provide an open and encouraging space in which my students can practise and improve their linguistic skills.
