About Ruth

Ciao/Bonjour! I passionately want all learners of Italian and French to love these beautiful languages as much as I do! I set up Ruth Spence Languages seven years ago so that I could share my expertise and enthusiasm with like-minded adults in Bristol and online. My degree is in French with Italian and my love for both countries blossomed during the year I spent working in the south of France and then after my degree teaching English to professionals in Rome. I gained a PGCE in Primary Education (Later Years) in 1997 and then taught in primary schools for years which gave me a strong foundation in all aspects of understanding how people learn. Demand for Italian lessons is huge here in Bristol so I'm currently teaching 9 classes of Italian (8 in-person and one online) and one Zoom French class. I mainly teach group classes at the very reasonable rate of £15 per person for the hour session. I'm convinced that we learn better with a supportive community around us. With that in mind, I regularly hold social events such as aperitivo evenings, quiz nights and trips to a lovely independent cinema here in Bristol all of which are always hugely popular.
